We hired Jessica Rosales from networX today to do an overhaul of our website and to do more Search Engine Marketing to really get us out there as our direct mailing campaign was not working as we needed it to.  In the past we really didn’t rely on the internet as we didn’t get much of our work from it – until now!  I haven’t even sent out one postcard since getting this work done and we are already ahead of this time last year.  This has cut down our advertising expense considerably.

We get a lot of marketing calls which usually don’t go anywhere as I want customers to call, not marketing companies.  Needless to say, I’m never very excited to get such calls from these companies.  Anyways, Jessica was very persistent.  She first called in the summer which is our busiest season and I believe I put her off about three or four times.  But she kept calling when she said she would, plus I want to support local businesses whenever I can and so I gave her a shot.  She met with me and went over the various things that she could do to help our company and I was impressed.  I was also getting excited about internet marketing for the first time as my previous viewpoint was that our website was there to make us more real to the customers after we sent estimates to them as they would check out our work and see what we’re all about.  Not anymore!  We are now getting leads and JOBS from people who are checking us out on the new website first.  One customer wanted a bid to strip and stain her door, talking with me over the phone while looking at our door page on the website.  I was able to go over our process while she was looking at these pictures which definitely helped us out – we even got her exterior painting job! 

The website launched in January and one might think that would be the end of the customer service, but it wasn’t.  Zero customer service is what it was like with my previous web company even though I paid them a decent monthly fee – a total waste of our money!  Not so with Jessica.  I get regular phone calls to update me on things they are doing to get us out there even more in the ever-changing world of internet marketing.  I appreciate this a lot because I always want to be showing up on page one for search results.  Jessica continues to research her field and comes up with new ideas and keeps things fresh.  Not very many companies can say the same.

This time last year (March \'09) I hadn\'t stepped on a job site for two months and wouldn\'t step on one until May. I scrambled and signed on with 4 different yellow pages and spent thousands of dollars and got very little return from it.
